FAQ
Why is my candle wick curling, leaning, and or mushrooming?
- You may notice some curling, leaning, and mushrooming when your candle is lit and burning and maybe even once it is extinguished. Small amounts of this are normal due to the wicks we use. All our wicks are made from cotton and are eco-friendly. All our wicks are zinc and lead free. If you’re experiencing too much curling, leaning, or mushrooming it could be due to your wick not being trimmed to ¼ inch before lighting, or you’ve allowed your candle to burn for too long. We always recommend trimming your wick to ¼ inch and to remove any mushrooming before lighting. We also advise against burning your candle for longer than four hours at a time. Please see our candle care section for more information on how to care for your candles.
Are there essential oils in your candles?
- We use a safe mixture of essential, natural, and synthetic fragrances. All our fragrance oils used to make our candles are phthalate free, and exclude cancer causing ingredients that require a Proposition 65 warning in California. All our fragrances are free of carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins, organ toxins, and acute toxins.
Do you use paraffin in your wax?
- Nope! All our candles are made using 100% soy wax from soy beans grown right here in the USA.
Are your candles Vegan and cruelty free?
- Yes, our candles are vegan and cruelty free.
Why is my candle producing soot?
- A small amount of soot coming from your burning candle is normal, because anything that burns will soot at least a small amount. If your candle is producing excessive soot you may need to trim your wick. Remember to keep wick trimmed from to ¼ inch and to remove any mushrooming on wick before lighting.
Why is my candle uneven and bumpy after burning?
- This is a normal characteristic of 100% soy wax! It is normal for your candle to harden uneven and bumpy after burning and will not impact the burn of your candle.
